German Bundesliga 2009/10
FSV Mainz 05 vs VfL Bochum
Stadion am Bruchweg (Mainz), 20 February 2010, Kick-off, 22:30 (GMT +8:00)
FSV Mainz 05
Mainz have not lost in 5 matches against Bochum and should be confident of doing the double over the visitors tonight.
The home team have not lost at home this season and after two straight draws at home, the posted back-to-back wins and will be looking to make it 3 wins in a row at home against an oppostion 6 points below them. Good news for the Mainz camp is that free-scoring midfielder Andreas Ivanschitz is available for selection. It would be a welcome back considering that the goals have dried up since November, though they have not been kept out at home, they have only managed to score one goal in every league home match since November.
Mainz beat Bochum 2-3 away and would do well to post another win against a Bochum side who have pulled of a string of good results on the road since November.
VfL Bochum
Bochum are unbeaten on the road since posting only a single win in 6 matches prior to that.
But it would be a tougher assignment tonight with a few midfield players out injured (Mimoun Azaouagh, Kevin Vogt and Milos Maric). All three are set to miss out. 5 loses to the host in previous outing may be a cause for concern for the team, but would be bouyed by a good string of result in recent weeks. However, it may not be as easy as it seems because Mainz themselves are on form as well.
Match Prediction
With home ground advantage, Mainz are defintely in pole position to continue with their unbeaten form at home. They may struggle with goals, but it is hard not to see them get a couple of goals. The home team could even probably manage a clean sheet in the process. A 2-0 win for the home team should not be too far off.
